In December, 2007, Joshua Stamm passed away after a heroic, lifelong fight with Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T). He was 27 years old. Despite his disability, Josh was strong-spirited and optimistic, and he amazed people with his accomplishments and “never quit” attitude. He touched so many lives with his sense of humor, love for life, kindness and generosity. Josh was an Eagle Scout, a member of the 105th Air National Guard's Young Champions, an avid skier, music fan and baseball player. He participated in countless wheelchair road races, including several Orange Classics and The Special Olympics at West Point. The Joshua Stamm Scholarship Fund – a component of The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan County (www.cfoc-ny.org) - was created by family and friends of Joshua in his memory. From this fund, a scholarship is awarded annually to the Goshen High School graduate who demonstrates qualities of determination, caring, compassion, and an independent spirit, and who, despite a disability, was able to excel and will attend college. Additionally, funds are donated to the A-T Children’s Project - the non-profit organization that raises funds to support and coordinate the discovery of a cure for A-T (www.atcp.org). Money is also donated to organizations and individuals to provide modalities and services which help disabled individuals. It’s easy to donate to The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund safely and securely online. Just go to http://yourcommunityfoundations.org/donate-now.html, and select “The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship” from the drop-down menu. For more information, please email us at joshuastammmemorialfund@gmail.com. With your help we can make sure that Josh is never forgotten. Thank you so much for your support. |
