New Music For a Special Cause
Today -
December 15, 2010 - marks 3 years since my brother Josh passed
away. The void left by his death is perpetual, but each year on
this date it becomes particularly apparent just how much Josh is missed
by those who knew him. We try hard to replace some of our sadness
by helping others in Josh's name through various fundraisers, and today
I am proud to reveal a new fundraising project I have been working on
for a long time. I hope you will help me spread the word about it.
Today I am releasing a new album - “Joshua” - dedicated to
the memory of my brother. To his heroic spirit, his
determination, his compassionate nature, and to his glowing
personality. To the way he lived his 27 short years to the
fullest, and to how he somehow managed to leave a lasting impression on
just about everyone he met. Josh loved a variety of music, and I
think he would be very happy to know that there is now a whole album of
songs named after him. He was a great brother who supported my
career unconditionally; I knew I could always count on him to be my
biggest fan. So it makes perfect sense that I turned to
songwriting as an outlet for my grief after he died, and that the
“Joshua” album was created.
I recently read this quote: “We strive to live, not by our fears,
but by our hopes, not by our words, but by our deeds.” That
pretty much sums up the way Josh lived, and it’s truly incredible
when you think about what he accomplished despite all of the factors
working against him. My hope is that MY words - these songs on
“Joshua” – can be turned into significant resources,
which can then be turned into action. Into the kinds of deeds
Josh would be striving to accomplish if he were alive today. That
would be the ultimate tribute to my brother.
You can download "Joshua" for just $5 anywhere digital music is
sold. All record sale proceeds from “Joshua” will be
donated to the A-T Children’s Project (the organization
researching a cure for Josh’s disability – Ataxia
Telangiectasia) and The Joshua Stamm Memorial Scholarship Fund (a
component of The Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan).
Please support this effort by buying this album, gifting it to others
on iTunes, and sending this email to everyone you can. I hope we
can make something incredible happen - for Josh, and for the children
these charities help.
You can find more information about Josh's Scholarship and Ataxia
Telangiectasia at www.joshsteam.org.

My Song Being Used on NBC's
Olympic Coverage!
An instrumental version of a
song I wrote with Art Hays, called
"Coming Out of the Dark", is being used as the music for a segment
being run repeatedly during NBC's primetime coverage of the 2010 Winter
Olympics. The segment is presented by Coca-Cola and NBC, and
it's
called Uplifting Moments - it recaps some great moments from the
games. It's being run nationally both during primetime and
when
they repeat that same broadcast late-night, so keep an eye and an ear
out!
You can hear the full version of "Coming Out of the Dark" at
www.myspace.com/mattstamm1, and it will be on my new album due out soon!

SIGNED!!
For months now I have been
hinting that some exciting things have
been on the horizon. Well, as of yesterday, the news is
official,
and now I can share it with all of you. Most of you know that
in
addition to my solo project I also play keyboards in a band called The
Rideaways. The Rideaways have signed a record deal with
Windup
Records! You can check out Windup at
http://www.winduprecords.com.
We won't be on their website for a little while (until we have some
music to put out), but you can at least see the rest of their roster
(The Rideaways don't really sound like any of the other bands on the
label). It's a fantastic label with an amazing track record,
and
we are all really excited about it. We were just at their
headquarters yesterday to meet the staff, and all of the employees seem
really nice and eager to help their bands get as far as
possible.
This is the real deal, and it should be an unbelievable
experience. I will be sure to keep everyone updated as we get
ready to record, start working in the studio, and eventually hit the
road for a tour.
You can check out The Rideaways at
www.myspace.com/rideaways.
The music you'll hear is some of the music that got us signed, but does
not necessarily indicate what kind of music we'll be putting out in the
coming months and years.
Naturally, with all good news comes a little bad...unfortunately while
I am under contract with this label, I will need to push my solo music
aside - FOR NOW. There will certainly be a time in the future
for
me to continue working on the songs that are so near and dear to me,
and I know that the people I meet and experiences I have during my time
on Windup Records will be invaluable to pushing my solo music and my
music career as a whole to the limit. I really want to thank
all
of you for supporting my music for so long. I also want to
thank
all of you who have worked so hard at my side to help make my music the
best it could possibly be and make sure as many people as possible got
to hear it!
Like I said, I will keep ya posted!

News, Radio, and Reviews!
I just got back from Hartford,
CT, where I had the chance to
showcase at the NACA Northeast Convention. It was a great
show,
and I am hoping it will lead to a bunch of gigs at colleges in the
Northeast starting in the Spring semester.
Check out
http://www.loneboystore.com/,
where I am featured in a banner ad on
their homepage, and I am the #10 artist on their site. The
chart
ranking is based on page views, song plays, and CD sales, so please get
on this site and help me out by requesting my music to be played as
many times as you can. This could really help me reach an
international audience, as this is a site run out of the U.K.
On Monday, November 5, 2007, check me out on Breakthru Radio -
http://www.breakthruradio.com/index.php?show=2369.
Tune in by clicking on this link, but PLEASE WAIT UNTIL MONDAY,
NOVEMBER 5th, as they use the amount of clicks to determine artist
ratings. This is a pre-recorded internet radio show, and my
songs
"Where Do We Go" and "Mr. Perfect" are featured in the webcast at
around the 29 minute mark. If you listen in between the two
songs, the DJ says some pretty cool things about the music!
My new EP, Where Do We Go, is getting some great reviews!
Check
one of them out at

so
thank you to everyone who came out to support me. Thanks once

And most of all thanks to Jeremy Beck on keys and background vocals,
and Chris Johnson on guitar and background vocals - you guys totally
helped bring my show to another level!
I'm also happy to say that I won another round of the
Rolling Rock Presents: National Band Search, and I will be competing in
Round 3 on November 16th at Blaggard's Pub. Stay tuned for

Thanks so much to the crew and camps involved with Camplified 2007.
I had such a great time
playing 5 dates on the Camplified 2007
Tour. First of all the crew - Rick, Jaime, Ashley, Heather,
Kyle,
Zach, Stu and Dominic - they were all so professional and wonderful to
work with...a big thanks to them! Such great shows would not
have
happened without them. And another huge thanks to the staff,
campers, directors and owners of Camp Hilltop, Camp Tioga, Capital
Camps, Camp Harlam, and Camp Walden! They were so
enthusiastic
and excited for the music, it was impossible NOT to get totally pumped
for every show. I had an amazing band(s) that totally rocked
it
every night: Josh Dodes on keyboards and background vocals,
Marc
Slutsky and Joel Arnow on drums, Jon Cornell and Phil Galitzine on
bass, Mike Reason and Tim Quick on guitar and background
vocals.
